Scope of works
AQL carried out a restoration and protection measures, including: Encapsulation and Scaffolding: A full scaffolding encapsulation was built to contain all the debris created, stopping pollution to the water and air. A scaffolding platform was constructed to allow for operatives to carry out the work in an efficient and safe manner. Surface Preparation: All of the steel was shot blasted to remove the existing coating, rust and any debris. Shot blasting was all done to SA 2.5 as per paint suppliers recommendation. Hydro-demolition was then used for surface prep on the underside of the bridge to prevent water contamination. Primer- A primer was applied as part of the paint system to allow for the best compatibility for the protective coating. Protective Coating- A C5 classified protective coating system was applied to protect the structure from erosion from salt water, waves, storms and adverse weather.
